Breathwork

For emotional regulation, grounding, and recentering

What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a somatic healing modality that uses simple controlled breath patterns to take you into a deep state of consciousness. This can be a powerful tool for emotional healing and will retrain your nervous system to relax and realign. It works by manipulating the carbon dioxide and oxygen levels in the body, allowing the bypass of the conscious mind. It is a safe way to move through stuck emotional states and tap into a deeply intuitive state. Breathwork offers release, relief, and catharsis in a short period of time. An active breath pattern under 8 minutes is utilized for an integrative journey and breath that is over 8 minutes is used in a meditative breath journey.

Emotional release can be shameful, difficult, or unallowed in our daily life. Breathwork with a trauma-informed facilitator ensures that you are able to access emotional release in a safe container, titrated to your tolerance with a breath journey that is crafted just for you. It allows us access to the subconscious mind, allowing us to unlock what is locked inside. It shows us what we need to see in a safe and supportive container in which we remain the director of our experiences.

What is the difference between a Meditative and an Integrative breath journey?

An integrative journey is anything that incorporates active breath that is under 8 minutes. A Meditative journey is anything with active breath over 8 minutes. Meditative is a deeper experience and is recommended for those who have done breathwork before.

 FAQs

  • Although the structure can be similar, the experience during each breathwork session is different every time we breathe. Your body is the guide, and it will guide you toward different areas of healing each time, if not a deeper level or layer.

  • The best part about breathwork is that you control the pace and direction by the depth and intensity of the breath pattern. You get to decide how much you are ready for. With that said, breathwork certainly puts you in a state where it is easier to lean into discomfort and the rewards of going all in with focused breath and intention are immense. We also spend time grounding and closing up afterwards so you are not left feeling open and raw.

  • It depends on the sort of breathwork you are looking to do and how experienced you are with breathing. Breathwork is a powerful practice and it is just that, a practice. Lighter more grounding short breathwork is okay do to on your own, I would recommend the pause breathwork app or the mindful movement collective (my own offering in this space)

However, I don’t recommend doing Breathwork on your own if you are not well experienced. Breathwork sessions with a facilitator are crafted and led in a way that allows the breather a safe somatic container to heal. A trained facilitator provides safety and ensures your emotional state is grounded and properly closed once the session has ended.
