Movement & Nutrition

Sustainable weight loss through a strong nutritional foundation

My philosophy

I believe that fitness is about more than just exercise. I do not give out one size fits all diets, I provide tools and rules to change your lifestyle over time. This means your results are sustained. We address not only your nutrition but your movement and lifestyle factors as well. Movement is a gift, never a punishment. Why do you focus on High Achievers and busy Parents?

I find that these two populations are often misunderstood. I also identify as both of these people, I am busy parenting and I want to do the best I can at anything I set fourth to do. Both busy parents and high-achieving personality types have little time and they need things to WORK. I work WITH your busy life to slowly change your habits and your life. Activinly losing weight is a different phase of training than sustaining. We work to get to your goal and then to sustain it - I teach, you learn, and then you shouldn’t need me anymore ;)

Do men and women require different training approaches?

The short answer is yes. Women have a 28-day hormonal cycle called an infradian rhythm. This means that they respond differently at each phase of their cycle due to hormonal fluctuations. Men have a 24-hour clock and respond relatively the same every day. When you are a woman and you train against your infradian rhythm you can run into all sorts of problems. You should not be fighting your body - I will teach you how to work with, instead of against.

How is Mindful Movement different?

  • I work with a woman's or a man’s body by understanding the hormonal landscape, this will dictate your food and nutritional needs

  • I build close relationships with my clients, always staying in contact and adjusting plans as you grow and change

  • I work to build lifestyle habits that will change not only your body but your mind

  • I am a trained gut health and Integrative nutrition practitioner

  • I am a trauma-informed breathwork facilitator, which means that I can work to remove blocks and old stories, stress, and stagnation

  • I am a certified yoga teacher, personal trainer, and corrective exercise specialist. I have in-depth knowledge of the human body in many modalities and will build a program that not only prevents injury but can help regain range of motion, chronic injury, etc.

  • I have been in this business for a very long time, I’ve seen it all and overcome it all with my clients - we can do this!

What to Expect When We Work Together

I promise to look at you as a whole system. I want your results to last, this means we work slowly over time to shift narrative and belief. I work not only with your nutritional habits but with your lifestyle habits and your mental habits. Wether you know it or not you are telling yourself a story about your body/self and that is shaping your reality. I work to shift that story so you can step into effortlessly sustained weightloss.

 FAQs

  • Although the structure can be similar, the experience during each breathwork session is different every time we breathe. Your body is the guide, and it will guide you toward different areas of healing each time, if not a deeper level or layer.

  • The best part about breathwork is that you control the pace and direction by the depth and intensity of the breath pattern. You get to decide how much you are ready for. With that said, breathwork certainly puts you in a state where it is easier to lean into discomfort and the rewards of going all in with focused breath and intention are immense. We also spend time grounding and closing up afterwards so you are not left feeling open and raw.

  • It depends on the sort of breathwork you are looking to do and how experienced you are with breathing. Breathwork is a powerful practice and it is just that, a practice. Lighter more grounding short breathwork is okay do to on your own, I would recommend the pause breathwork app or the mindful movement collective (my own offering in this space)

However, I don’t recommend doing Breathwork on your own if you are not well experienced. Breathwork sessions with a facilitator are crafted and led in a way that allows the breather a safe somatic container to heal. A trained facilitator provides safety and ensures your emotional state is grounded and properly closed once the session has ended.
